Making Money Blogging With Contextual Advertising

April 17th, 2010 No comments

Whether you blog in your spare time or use it to build your business, there are plenty of ways to put your blog to work for you.  One of the quickest ways you’ll earn some cash from your blog is through pay per click advertising.  Pay per click ads are exactly as the name implies.  You get paid every time someone clicks on an ad that appears on your website.  Pay per click ads are also known as PPC ads.  You’ll earn either a flat rate cost per click that comes from your website or a bid rate.  Cost per click bids are based on the highest amount advertisers are willing to pay for ads that appear linked to the keywords you use on your website.  Cost per click is sometimes shortened to CPC.

Traditionally, bloggers used banners and pop-up ads to earn their pay per click revenue.  Google revolutionized the internet advertising industry through its AdSense program.  Google AdSense utilizes contextual advertising to link website content with appropriate advertisers.  Contextual ads are basically advertisements that are related to the website content in some way.  For example, a blog about breeding dogs usually ends up with advertisements for various brands of dog food and other dog products.  Bloggers have found higher paychecks from pay per click advertising campaigns thanks to the contextual advertising model because people who are already reading a blog on one subject are obviously interested in products and services that are related to that subject.  If someone is looking for a dog breeder, they’ll probably need to buy dog good at some point too.

Today there’s also a new form of contextual ads that do an even better job of grabbing users’ attention.  In Text contextual ads link directly to the keywords as they appear right in your articles.  You can tell the difference between regular links and a contextual ad link by the double underlining.  There’s also a bubble that opens up when a mouse cursor passes over the In Text ad links.

In Text contextual ads are the perfect addition to any blog, even if you’re already using the traditional form of pay per click ads.  In Text ads don’t take up any additional space, so you won’t even know they’re there until they start bringing in the cash.  In Text ads are also a form of permission marketing, which means they’ll only be seen by your blog readers who actually want to see them.

Infolinks offers a more intelligent contextual advertising model for publishers all across the world.  The Infolinks equation yields the highest eCPM possible and guarantees you the highest revenue.
