Make Money Blogging: How To Turn Your Deadbeat Blogs Into Winners!

July 8th, 2010 No comments

Everyday aspiring bloggers scour the Internet looking for the latest tips and tricks to create money making blogs.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of these well-intentioned bloggers will never earn any real money online and it is not for a lack of trying. You may be in this situation! If so, keep reading.

Popular blogging guides like Blogging To The Bank, Bloggers PayBack, Bloggers Paycheck and a host of other less well known tools are bought by marketers in the hope that they will shed the light on how to blog for profits.

I discovered nearly two years ago the real secret to earning money with blogs. In fact, what set me on the right path was Rob Benwells original ebook Blogging To The Bank.

You see, the advice that most of these blogging guides give is sound, but the real challenge is putting all the pieces together. How you monetize is really secondary.

There are 3 things you need to make money blogging:

  1. Targeted Readers. These are people who visit your blog because your provide content that solves there problem. Whatever niche you are in, remember find the problem and then provide solutions.
  2. Relevant Content. Your posts should be related to your niche; that is if you want to make money. It does not matter if it is Google Adsense, Clickbank Affiliate Products, CPA – CJ, Neverblue Ads or your own product. Your content has to relate to your market/niche. If you are in the weight loss niche, posting about dog training is not going to be of real interest to your readers.
  3. Traffic. Traffic is the life blood of your blog. Without it, your blog is dead. The simple fact is that three are inter-related. Good content generates Traffic by attracting visitors . More visitors increase your metrics in Alexa and Google and boost your SERP (Search Engine Rank Position). A higher SERP gets you more visitors.

As you can see, failing to excel at any one of these three can mean disaster for your blog.

But at the core of everything is CONTENT. Content is king! It’s the engine that drives your blog.

Unfortunately, the majority of the estimated 135 million bloggers who create blogs, see little results and abandon their blogs way to early. You see, you can bring your blog back to life and even make some real money in the process.

Are you in this predicament?

Don’t worry, there is light at the end of the tunnel… and no, it’s not the train.

If you are serious about earning money blogging, you must learn 2 important concepts:

  1. Leverage
  2. Automation

The focus of this post is on #2,  automation. I’ll talk about leverage in a separate post.

Automation is overlooked by both  new and even veteran bloggers. For whatever reason, they have yet to realize that Internet Marketing is a war of attrition and all about “scale.”

Just building one single blog typically will not produce the desired results; fast cash, unless you are a skilled professional writer or have some other celebrity attribute that will cause visitors to flock to your blog.

The secret is in creating scores or even hundreds of blogs.

Think Walmart, MacDonalds, RiteAid, K-Mart, Sears. What made them so successful and continues to insure their success today?

Their trademark names are ubiquitous. Where can you go (literally in the world) and not find a Walmart or MacDonalds? They are everywhere with some locations staying open 24 hours a day.

Ever wondered why the local pharmacist or neighborhood grocer went out of business? They could not compete with the scale of these marketing giants. Again, it’s all a matter of scale.

Transfer that concept to your own online blogging network! Do you spend all of your time trying to get one blog to go?

For a look at how it’s really done, when it comes to making money with blogs, watch this short video presentation…

How To Make Money Blogging Fast & Cheap

July 5th, 2010 No comments

A search on Google for the keyword phrase “how to make money blogging” returns 6.3 million results.

People who blog want to know how can I make money blogging?

There are scores of books, eBook guides and tutorials on the subject, but my investigation reveals that millions of bloggers still struggle to profit from blogging.

As an avid blogger with over 30 blogs in various niches, I’ve discovered a simple formula for creating and money making blogs fast and cheap.

First let’s examine the problem.

There are over 135,000,000 bloggers online. Most will never make any money blogging.

I define making money as being able to pay your bills with the revenue generated with your blogs. Anything else is a novelty.

Problem #1 – Content

What makes blogs so favored by the search engines, especially Google is that blogs are rich in content.

Google has publicly stated that their goal is to provide users with the best content available based on the users search terms.

Blogs that update their content frequently with fresh articles are favored by Google.

But generating content is time consuming and can be labor intensive. After all, even if you’re blogging about something that you love, you still have to research the topic, write the articles and post them.

Even if you are disciplined enough to post an article a day, it would take you at least a month to produce 30 posts on your blog.

Most experts agree you need at least 50 posts to get serious consideration from the search engines.

Another issue with content generation is constantly finding stuff to blog about. What happens when you run out of ideas to post on?

Typically this is when most blogs begin to fall into decline and the posting schedule becomes random.

Ultimately this is self-defeating as the search engine spiders will begin to visit your blog less frequently as they notice fewer and fewer post.

Problem #2 SERP (Search Engine Results Position)

If your blog does not rank on the first page of Google for your primary keyword/keyword phrase, it is invisible. No one will ever see it.

Every blogger’s goal, if they want to make money blogging, should be to rank on the first page of Google for their keyword/keyword phrase and achieve a SERP of 1, 2 or 3.

Why You Want To Get Top Google Rankings…

A blog ranked at the #1 Search Engine Results Position gets on average 56.4% of the clicks for that search term.

Let’s assume your primary keyword gets 3,000 searches a month. That means that at the #1 position, you could expect get at least 1,500 visitors a month for that search term.

Position #2 gets 15%

Position #3 and lower get 5% decreasing downward to zero.

Do you see the importance of ranking at #1 position?

It is money in the bank!

Depending on how you are monetizing your blog, even at a 1% conversion rate, you could generate 15 sales per month.

Now scale that up to 2-3 sites with a #1 SERP. You could easily make 50 sales a month.

Problem #3 – Page Rank

Page Rank is Google’s system of awarding points on a scale of 1-10 for how they determine the authority of your blog or website.

The higher the Page Rank, the more authority your site has.

Now Page Rank is not as important as it once was, but it counts if you want your site to stick for SERP.
For example, do a Google search for your primary keyword phrase.

If you discover a site with a PR-4 or higher, these are authority sites and their Page Rank gives them stick-ability in Google.

It’s virtually impossible to overtake and supplant a PR-4 site.

Page Rank is awarded largely by the number of link (backlinks) pointing to your site.

Backlinks are links on other sites in your niche/market pointing back to your site using an anchor tag with your keyword.

For example: Authority Site A posts a link on their site referencing an article on your blog of interest …
<a href=”http://yourdomain.com</a>YourKeyword</a>

Depending on the Page Rank of the Authority site, that link will pass “juice” or a vote shall we say, back to your blog or blog post.

The more votes you get, and the higher the quality of the votes, the more authority your site will eventually have and its Page Rank will increase.

Typically getting Page Rank can takes months.

But what if you could get to PR-2 or 3 in a few short weeks? Yes, it’s possible if you know how!

Problem #4 – Traffic

You may have noticed by now that all of these problems are inter-related.

By far though, the biggest deterrent to making money blogging is NO TRAFFIC!

Traffic is the life-blood of your blog. You can have a mediocre looking site, but if you can drive traffic to it in sufficient numbers…

YOU WILL MAKE MONEY!

Lack of Targeted Traffic is the Achilles heel of 90% of bloggers.

Learn how to get people to your site and you’ll never go hungry…

Solution

Did you notice that I have not discussed monetization?

I did not discuss Adsense, Amazon, Affiliate Marketing, CPA, PPV or any other the many methods of monetizing your blog, because they are really secondary to solving the 4 problems I’ve outlined.

For example, to make any real money with Adsense, Kontera or any other contextual ad system you need 2 things.

1. A network of sites (hundreds possibly) or CONTENT!!!
2. A niche that has high paying Adwords keywords
3. An Adsense optimized blog theme
4. Massive amounts of traffic TRAFFIC!!!

Pick an system for monetization. In order to work, you have to have all or at least 2 of the problem components firing on all cylinders.

Most bloggers don’t make any money because they skip those steps.

How To Make Money Blogging Fast & Cheap – AUTOMATE

The key to making money blogging fast and cheap is to automate as many of the processes as possible.

Automation saves you time which is your most valuable asset, especially if you are using FREE methods.

The tradeoff when using any free method is your time.

The Guru’s and Super Affiliate automate (or outsource) labor intensive, tedious tasks.

The time saved is channeled to money making activities.

Automate Content – In the time it would take you to manually write and post an article, I can post 10 keyword specific articles to my blog.

Using specific plug-ins I can automate the SEO, tagging, bookmarking, RSS & pinging.

Rather than manually completing 4-5 steps, I set-up a system 1 time, automate it and it performs the tedious tasks over and over again, on auto-pilot.

Create Link Wheels – Link-Wheels are not dead and still work very effectively for getting your site indexed and rising in the search engines quickly.

They work by leveraging the authority of high Page Rank Web 2.0 sites to link back to your blog or money page.

This can be done manually or there are several software programs that can automate the process.

This includes creating Web 2.0 properties, posting articles, bookmarking everything, submitting RSS feeds to aggregators and pinging all the feeds.

Here is a quick tip. Create your primary keyword list. Then create link-wheels for each keyword.

Howie Schwartz coined the phrase “Conversation Domination” and this is the method the big-guns use to to dominate niches with their blogs.

Automate Bookmarking - See Automate Content for reasons! Use services like Onlywire.com. It’s semi-automatic (you have to create your profile accounts manually). Once this is done, the service bookmarks your posts automatically.

Create a Funded Proposal – Here’s is how to make this process low cost!

Use the concept of a “funded proposal” and let your business pay for itself.

Set an income goal. When you hit that goal, take part (if not all of the initial profits) and reinvest them into software to automate your business.

What if you could create and launch a complete blogging network every day.

How much money do you think you would earn?

You see, by having multiple blog sites, I have diversified my portfolio.

Some blogs earn more than others. Some are seasonal, some are based on popular Clickbank products, others are monetized with Adsense or Amazon.

But in the end, I have revenue streams pouring in from multiple sources.

*IDEA* DO WHAT THE GURUS DO, NOT WHAT THEY SAY!

Stop thinking of your blog as a pet!

I talk to so many bloggers that have an emotional attachment to their blogs. They “coddle” them, even when they don’t make any money.

I see blogs as a means to an end. I want to make money online and blogs are the vehicle to achieve that result.

I give Google what it wants and in return, they rank my sites high (and yours too, if you choose to take this advice).

Google and the other search engines are there to be exploited. Learn how to manipulate them and you will see incredible profits.
