Blogging is a fantastic place to start if you have an ambition to earn money online. The fact of the matter is that a complete internet novice can quickly launch a blog of their own. Of course, launching a blog takes small effort. It is when you really have to add content to your blog that requires effort. But, if you are willing to place for the effort, then you have a strong future in blogging. This article will cover some of the steps that you will need to take in order to be a successful blogger.

For starters, if you plot to blog, you are going to have to provide your readership with expectations. In particular, you need to be consistent with your blogging. Let your readers know when to expect new blog posts by blogging on specific days of the week. While some people opt to add new entries to their blog daily, or even multiple times a day, this is not necessary. If you plot to blog once a week, make sure that you do so on the same day each week. The same holds right if you plot to blog more frequently, such as three days per week. Your readers will become accustomed to this schedule, and will look forward to visiting your blog to read new posts. If you plot on taking a sabbatical from blogging because you go on vacation, or for any other reason, make sure that you make your readers aware of this by mentioning it in your blog post.

Also, you should give your readers the opportunity to subscribe to your RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feed. Doing this will say readers via email each time you post new content to your blog. You may have visited a blog and seen the orange and white symbol without even knowing what it was. This is the RSS feed for that particular website. The nice thing about including this feed on your blog, is that you can also submit it to what is known as an RSS aggregator. An RSS aggregator allows individuals who are interested in subject matter which you blog covers to receive your, as well as other related blog posts.

Here is the point where I really need you to pay attention because it is directly related to your ability to earn money online. Specifically, you come up with a way to obtain the email addresses of your visitors. I have determined that the best way to do this, is to offer something of value to your readers at no cost. While I know that you are constantly adding valuable content to your blog, this is not enough. You must provide something more, such as an eBook, software, an informative online course, or whatever else of value that will give your visitors the incentive to provide you with their email address through what is known as an opt-in form, so that you can deliver their free product. Once you have a list of email addresses from readers in your niche market, you have a customer base to which you can market products in the future. This is what is know as building your list, and is how marketers have made a fortune online.

It really is not too hard to earn money online with a blog. Just realize that it takes time and it takes effort. You will not achieve success overnight. With that being said, if you are willing to place in the time and effort, you will place yourself in a position to earn money online for years to come.

How to Make Money Through Blogging

June 21st, 2010 No comments

There are two major types of business models that entrepreneurs use to make money blogging. The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog’s readers. The second kind of money making blog is one that helps a single brand improve its image by making positive associations between the blog and the product in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing. If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to place ads on your site; you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue. Within the first group, many people make money blogging by selling space through Google’s AdSense program. The advantages of this program are numerous, as it requires very small effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster to start raking in profits. But, most people learn that they make less money through this method than they had hoped that their blog would earn. Selling advertising directly to companies who want to place banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often honestly lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route. People who have a strong background in sales and are experienced at pitching proposals can make quite a bit of money by renting blog space to interested companies. The most serious problem with this model is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging. As blogging becomes a more and more lucrative business, a lot of established companies are considering how they can get into the action. One way that companies are capitalizing on the blog movement is by having blogs that provide a kind of friendly face for their corporation. Often, a company will use an established blogger to make a weblog designed specifically to appeal to that company’s customers and to make positive associations with the brand in consumers’ minds. More than one writer who never even dreamed that he or she could make money blogging has been approached by a company and offered quite a pretty penny for this kind of gig. Make Money Blogs: Consider The Following First!

Everyday aspiring Internet Marketers are looking to blogging as a viable way to make money online. But the ever-present question is “how do I do it?”

Answer: One blog at a time.

The prevailing temptation (as a result of massive hype) is to jump into creating a blog, slap on some AdSense ads or an affiliate link, perform a little SEO and voila… just wait for the commission checks to start flying in.

In truth, if it sounds to good to be true; it probably is.

But before you bounce, know that you can make money blogging, if you know how.

To make money blogging requires both knowledge and work your part.

First, let me make it clear that blogs don’t make money; systems do.

Blogs like any other online tool are a means to an end. To succeed you need a plan!

In other words, the notion that starting a blog in itself will somehow reap you windfall online profits is ludicrous.

Before you even start a blog you should consider:

  1. The topic of your blog? What are you going to blog about?
  2. How much time can you commit to writing and posting blog articles?
  3. Which blogging platform will you use? Will it be a free blog service like Blogger or WordPress.com or will you purchase you own domain name and hosting and use blogs powered by WordPress.org?
  4. How will you monetize your blog? Will it be with Affiliate Products, Contextual Ads, Contextual Links, Physical Products, CPA or Selling Ad Space. Or maybe you’ve decided to flip your blogs once they achieve a certain level of readership and income.
  5. Where will you get content? Research?

The choice is up to you, but it is important to think about these things before you start your blog.

The #1 Reason most bloggers fail to make money with blogs is they do not do their homework.  Your homework begins with research; niche research and keyword research.

For example, you may be interested or motivated by underwater basket weaving. But if no-one is spending money on Underwater Basket Weaving guides or products, it won’t matter how good your blog is, you’ll never make a dime.

Proper research will save you time, money and frustration.

Another major thing to consider is TRAFFIC./strong>

Traffic is the life blood of your blog. For that reason, learning how to drive traffic, targeted traffic, will mean the difference between making sales or not.

Marketing online is about numbers; Click rates, Click-Through-Rates, Conversion Rates, etc.

Which brings us to “Tracking.” Tracking your efforts and results will allow to to precisely evaluate the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.

For most bloggers, tracking is an after-thought. By the time they get around to it, if they ever do; weeks, if not months of valuable time and effort have been wasted.

So, before you start, spend some time thinking about what it is you want to accomplish and what resources (paid or free) will be needed in order for your to succeed.

During all of these activities, you’re removed from your audience. But when you use Twitter to communicate, it becomes a conversation.
